To celebrate National Family History Week, join us for the launch of Join us for the launch of Hunter Valley Ancestors: An Incomplete Chronicle of the families Burns, Puxty, Hewitt, Longworth, Poile, Pascoe, Kenny, and Hancock by Roland Bannister.

With guest speakers Julie Baird, Museum Director and Dr Cameron Archer AM, Chair of Paterson Historical Society.

About the book:

This is a book about Hunter Valley families: the author's ancestors who settled in the valley as rural labourers, farmers, miners, and publicans. Some came to Australia as convicts, but most came free. There was even the odd 'gentleman' and 'gentlewoman'. Their individual stories tell the wider story of Europeans in the Hunter, the European emigrants who moved onto the lands of the Worimi and Wonnarua peoples.  Special family places include Paterson, Vacy, Eccleston, Singleton, Rixs Creek, Camberwell, Carrowbrook, and Newcastle. It is illustrated with images from the family collection, and from institutional collections and archives.
For readers of Australian history, community history, family history and in particular, Hunter Valley history.
