Tony Robinson

Sat 03 May 2014
11:30am - 04:30pm

Time Team’s Sir Tony Robinson will be back in Newcastle for his brand new series: Tony Robinson’s Tour of Duty.

Sir Tony Robinson is well known from shows such as Time Team, Blackadder and Worst Jobs in History. The series will be shown on Foxtel’s History Channel in 2014.

His next series commemorates a century of war and is currently being produced by WTFN Australian History Productions. It will cover 10 regions in Australia and New Zealand, focusing on the frontline and the home-front.

Newcastle has been chosen as one of the regions. Two years ago Tony swept through town for an episode of Tony Robinson Time Walks.  It was incredibly popular and Tony can't wait to return.

This time he will be exploring the frightening Japanese shelling of the town with some interesting eyewitness accounts.  The accomplished actor and television host will also be working on uncovering an ‘explosive’ secret about BHP during WW2 and will find out the fascinating story of  WW1 rebel, Maud Butler, who dressed up as a soldier and tried to go to war with the men. Plus, our favourite British host has been invited to the beautiful Warriors Chapel at the magnificent Christchurch Cathedral where he is has been told there will be exciting news about a wonderful new discovery from WW1.
